Context - The advancement of scientific research combined with technological evolution has included several softwares and methodologies associated with Risk Management. The inclusion of Process Safety applied to reliability in the offshore industry offers challenges in choosing how to categorize your hazards in order to reduce as many possible platforms for the exposure of accidents. Objective - This work aims to bring a vision of the evolution of risk management in the safety of processes in the oil and gas industry through a bibliometric study. Method - For this, a survey was carried out on the Scopus knowledge base using the keywords related to the topic of interest and the thesaurus published at the conferences, after which the R software was used with the aid of the Bibliometrix package for data analysis. Results - The search for Scopus returned a total of two hundred and twenty-eight articles from the cut made in March 2021. Publications in this area of research started in 1980 and grew since the 2000s. According to the analysis, the most representative countries were the United States and Norway, which results in an association with the creation of relevant standards and countries with major accidents inserted in the offshore scenery. Among the five vehicles with the largest accumulated number of publications, four of them are conferences, with the OMAE (International Conference on offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering) having the largest company. Conclusion - The study concludes that the growth in risk management occurs accompanied by the emergence of standards related to investigations of high risk scenarios in countries with greater representativeness in the production of standards and, consequently, in publications.
