The aging of the workforce is highlighted as one of the structural challenges to be faced by governments around the world. This study aims to identify and synthesize research that explores public policies aimed at the insertion or retention of older people in the job market. The research was carried out through a systematic review guided by the PRISMA method guidelines and fed by articles resulting from searches in the Scopus, Web of Science and PubMed databases. The main results indicate the need for targeted actions, such as worker training, reforms in retirement policies, professional guidance and access to health and well-being services for the effective insertion of older people in the job market. Two important conclusions emerged: it is crucial to adopt incentive measures with caution, as poorly designed incentives can harm the image and productivity of older workers. Furthermore, increasing the productivity of these workers may or may not harm the productivity of younger workers.
